Sensory Deprivation Research (Float Therapy )
Float Therapy (Floatation REST - Reduced Environmental Stimulus Therapy) is a zero-gravity, sensory deprivation experience developed by neuropsychiatrist John C. Lily in 1954 in pursuit of the study of human consciousness. In a float tank, one is suspended in 1,000 pounds of medical grade epsom salt and 10 inches of water, leaving the floater deprived of as much external stimulus as possible.
It's no surprise that Floatation REST provides one with apt benefits such as relief from chronic pain, stress, anxiety and depression, stimulating creativity, problem-solving skills, mental clarity, boosting the immune system, providing relief from addiction and withdrawal, and providing fertile ground for meditation and inward introspection.
We at Hemp and the Honeybee are supporting this mission because we believe in the force of love that one finds when they look deep within, and we believe that the celebration of life and human connection is strengthened through this process.
In fact, we are so inspired by this therapy that we dedicated a a 1.08% of each sale to theFloat Research Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to establish Floatation-REST worldwide.Go for a float, grab an earthy remedy, and join us in building a dedicated Float Clinic to conduct clinical trials and to help facilitate float research in universities and hospitals.
A better world awaits. Much love, float heads!
